Dermal Fillers in Beverly Hills, CA
Dermal fillers in Beverly Hills at ConfiDental are planned around your smile, softening the lines around your mouth, restoring lip support and balancing the lower face so your teeth and face look in harmony. Dr. Liyan Massaband, DMD, MPH, uses hyaluronic acid fillers that can be adjusted or dissolved, explains the real risks as well as the benefits, and gives you a clear price per syringe before any treatment.
As a dentist, Dr. Massaband looks at your lips, teeth and lower face together. New veneers, dentures or implants change how the lips sit, and a small amount of volume, placed with that in mind, can make the whole result look natural.
What Are Dermal Fillers?
Dermal fillers (sometimes called therapeutic fillers or facial fillers) are gels injected under the skin. Most are made of hyaluronic acid, a sugar your body already makes that holds water and adds soft volume. Well-known hyaluronic acid brands include Juvederm and Restylane.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older for specific uses, including smoothing wrinkles and folds around the mouth and adding volume to the lips, cheeks and chin. Each product is approved for particular areas, and we use them only where they are approved.
A key advantage of hyaluronic acid is that it can be dissolved with an enzyme called hyaluronidase if the result is not right or a problem occurs.
Areas We Treat
Area | What filler can do | Often combined with |
Lips | Add gentle volume, define the border, even out shape | Veneers or whitening, for a balanced smile |
Smile lines (nasolabial folds) | Soften the folds from nose to mouth | Restoring lost tooth or bite height |
Lines around the mouth (perioral lines) | Smooth fine “lipstick” lines | Lip filler |
Marionette lines | Lift the downturned corners of the mouth | Chin support |
Chin | Add projection for better profile balance | Jawline filler |
Jawline | Define the jaw edge and soften early jowls | Chin filler |
Areas we do not treat with filler: under the eyes, forehead, nose and neck. The FDA recommends against filler injections in these areas because of a higher risk of serious complications.
Benefits of Therapeutic Fillers
Therapeutic fillers provide non-invasive facial rejuvenation with minimal downtime. Key benefits include:
Restored Volume
Restores volume to cheeks, lips, and under-eyes for a youthful and refreshed appearance.
Smoother Skin
Smooths fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and forehead, creating a softer, more even texture.
Enhanced Contours
Enhances facial contours, such as cheekbones or lips, without the need for invasive procedures.
Improved Hydration and Elasticity
Improves skin hydration and elasticity through the rejuvenating effects of hyaluronic acid.
Long-Lasting Results
Provides results that last 6–18 months, depending on the type of filler used and individual skin response.
Safety and Expertise
Involves minimal risks when performed by a skilled professional.
Patients at Confidental Beverly Hills love the confidence boost from these subtle enhancements.
Why Fillers Pair Well With Dental Treatment
Your teeth support your lips and cheeks. When teeth are lost, worn down or set back, the lips can thin and lines deepen around the mouth. That is why:
- After veneers or a smile makeover: a small amount of lip filler can frame the new smile so it does not look “too big” for the lips
- With dentures or full mouth reconstruction: restoring bite height with new teeth comes first; injectables can then soften the lines that remain
- With porcelain veneers: we plan both so tooth length and lip shape suit each other
Teeth first, then filler. Some lines that look like they need volume actually improve once the teeth and bite are restored.
Fillers vs Botox
Dermal fillers | ||
How it works | Adds volume under the skin | Relaxes a muscle |
Best for | Thin lips, deep folds, chin and jawline shape | Clenching, gummy smile, lines from movement |
Results | Immediate, settle in 1 to 2 weeks | Start in a few days, full effect in about 2 weeks |
Lasts | About 6 to 12 months for hyaluronic acid | About 3 to 4 months |
Fillers do not treat TMJ or jaw pain. If your jaw aches or clicks, see TMJ treatment or jaw muscle pain.
Your Filler Appointment, Step by Step
Consultation
We talk about what you would like to change, look at your face, lips, teeth and bite, and review your medical history and medicines. We explain which areas will help and which will not, and the cost.
Plan and consent
You see the plan, the product, how many syringes and the risks before you agree.
Comfort
A numbing cream is applied, and most products also contain a local anesthetic (lidocaine). Most people feel pressure and a little sting.
Injection
The gel is placed slowly in small amounts, checking symmetry as we go. Treatment usually takes 15 to 30 minutes.
Review
You see the result immediately. A follow-up after about two weeks lets us check how it has settled and make small touch-ups if needed.
After Your Filler: What to Expect
The American Academy of Dermatology notes that redness, swelling, tenderness and occasional bruising usually fade within 7 to 14 days.
For the first 24 to 48 hours:
- Avoid strenuous exercise, alcohol and very hot environments (sauna, hot yoga)
- Do not massage or press the area unless we ask you to
- Use a cool compress for swelling
- Sleep with your head slightly raised the first night
- Avoid dental cleanings and other dental work for about two weeks if possible, and tell us if you have dental work booked
Risks and Safety
This is a medical treatment, and it is important to know the risks:
Common and short-lived:
- Swelling, redness, tenderness and bruising
- Small lumps that usually settle or can be massaged
- Asymmetry, which can be adjusted
Less common:
- Infection
- Firm nodules
- Allergic reaction
Rare but serious: The FDA warns that product accidentally injected into a blood vessel can block blood flow, leading to skin damage, vision problems including blindness, or stroke. The chance is low, but the harm can be permanent. To lower that risk, we:
- Inject slowly and in small amounts, using careful technique in each area
- Avoid high-risk areas such as around the eyes, the forehead and the nose
- Keep hyaluronidase and an emergency plan ready in the office
Get help right away if you notice unusual or severe pain, skin that turns white, grey or blue, vision changes, or stroke symptoms after treatment. Call us, and call 911 for vision or stroke symptoms.
This treatment may not be right for you if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an active skin infection or cold sore in the area, have a bleeding disorder, or have a history of severe allergies. Never buy injectables online or use needle-free “hyaluron pens”; the FDA has not approved needle-free devices for injecting filler.
How Long Do Fillers Last?
According to the AAD, hyaluronic acid products usually last about 4 to 12 months. In our experience:
- Lips: often about 6 months
- Smile lines and marionette lines: about 6 to 12 months
- Chin and jawline: often 9 to 12 months or longer
Results fade gradually. Many people book a smaller top-up rather than starting again.

Dermal Filler FAQs
How much do dermal fillers cost in Beverly Hills?
Usually about $600 to $1,000 per syringe of hyaluronic acid. Lips often need one syringe; chin and jawline often need two or more.
Does filler hurt?
Most people feel a little pressure and stinging. Numbing cream and the anesthetic inside most fillers keep it comfortable.
How long do lip fillers last?
Often about 6 months, sometimes longer. Lips move a lot, so results there tend to fade faster than in the chin or jawline.
Can dermal filler be dissolved?
Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if the result is not right or if a problem occurs.
Can jawline filler tighten jowls?
Jawline and chin filler can define the jaw edge and soften early jowls. It does not lift loose skin the way surgery does, and we will tell you if it is unlikely to give the result you want.
Do fillers help TMJ or jaw pain?
No. Fillers add volume; they do not relax muscles or treat the jaw joint. For clenching and jaw muscle pain, see our TMJ and therapeutic Botox pages.
What is the difference between fillers and Botox?
Fillers add volume to fill lines and shape lips, chin and jawline. Botox relaxes muscles to soften movement lines, reduce clenching or treat a gummy smile.
When will I see results?
Right away, though swelling can make the area look fuller for the first few days. The final result is usually clear after about two weeks.
Is it safe to get filler from a dentist?
Dentists work every day with the anatomy of the lips, mouth and lower face. What matters most is the injector’s training, careful technique, using approved products in approved areas, and being ready to manage complications. Ask about these at any office.
Can I get filler before a dental appointment?
It is best to avoid dental cleanings and other dental work for about two weeks after filler, and to tell us about any upcoming dental treatment so we can plan around it.
